Coincidiendo con su 70 aniversario y con la publicación de su autobiografía, el prolífico Ginger Baker se animó a celebrar una reunión de amigos especiales en el Jazz Cafe de Londres el pasado 4 de noviembre de 2009. Entre dichos amigos se encuentra el guitarrista y cantante Chris Goss (Masters of Reality), el bajista Jonas Helborg, el percusionista Dodoo Abass, el saxofonista Peter King y su propia hija Leda Baker (Rubella Ballet) a la guitarra y coros. Y para los dos últimos temas, una sorpresa que lleva a la reconciliación: Steve Winwood sale a escena y junto con el anfitrión Baker interpretan un par de temas de Blind Faith, hecho que no ocurría desde los años 70. Este CD/DVD conmemora este evento histórico y prestigioso, e invita a compartir la música y la atmósfera de un momento tan especial.

Sorprendentemente, 40 años después sigue apareciendo material inédito del genio Hendrix y su legado parece parece no tener fin. Pero a diferencia de muchos de los refritos que se han ido editando hasta la fecha, "Valley of Neptune" aporta bastante más: "Ships Passing Through the Night”, “Lullaby for the summer”, “Cryin’ blue rain”, “Mr Bad luck” no se habían editado aún, e incluye tomas inéditas dew "Lover Man" y "Fire", así como una versión mucho más eléctrica de "Hear my train" y la nueva canción "Valleys of Neptune", grabado en el 69 y vuelta a mezclar por Eddie Kramer.

Jeff Hill, Dan Fadel y Neal Casal nos vuelven a sorprender (por lo inesperado y por la calidad) con un nuevo trabajo. Si en los anteriores trabajos la banda se inclinaba más hacia el funk y soul setentero, en este tercer disco podemos encontrar temas mucho más tradicionales. Sinceramente no es un disco que vaya a cambiar la historia de la música, pero los amantes del blues en general, y de la obra del gran e infravalorado Neal Casal en concreto (recordemos que estuvo a un paso de sustituir a Marc Ford en los los Black Crowes) lo agradecerán. Fácil escucha y digerible desde el primer momento.
